MSHS Summer Tour A Blazing Success
Yesterday, Catoctin Orchards (http://www.catoctinmountainorchard.com/) and Larriland Farm (http://www.pickyourown.com/) graciously opened their doors to the grower and extension community to host a summer tour, with the highlight featuring speakers discussing different aspects of attract-and-kill, threshold-based monitoring, and perimeter management for the brown marmorated stink bug, sponsored by the NE SARE program. It was promoted heavily by the Maryland State Horicultural Society. Despite the blazing heat and high humidity, over 100 growers attended, making the program highly successful. In addition to BMSB projects, growers were also able to hear talks about strawberry black rust, spotted wing drosophila, apple cultivar trials, and trellising techniques. I encourage you to take a look at some of the photos below in the slideshow that features some of the beautiful farms, growers, extension personnel, and researchers that made this wonderful event possible.
